Kelowna Rockets forward Brett Bulmer has been selected by the Minnesota Wild in the 2nd round of the NHL Entry Draft.
Bulmer, a 6-foot-2 175 pound forward, was chosen as the 9th pick in the second round, 39th overall.
He had 13 goals and 27 assists in 65 games with the Rockets last year. He also scored three goals and two assists in 12 WHL playoff games.
"Brett is a hard-working, physical player that is a strong skater and has good puck skills," said Wild amateur scout Paul Charles on the Wild's web site.
Wild.nhl.com also said this:
Bulmer is termed a "late bloomer" both in stature, and in his hockey skills. He was 5-foot-7 during his Bantam draft year, and wasn't taken in the WHL Draft until the 11th round. Since then, he has grown five inches and developed his game.
"Brett is a bigger forward that has very good skills for a tall man," said Rockets coach Ryan Huska. "The more experience he gets, the better he has been getting."
Meanwhile Curtis Hamilton, a Kelowna resident and the son of Rockets president and general manager Bruce Hamilton, was selected in the second round of the draft as the Edmonton Oilers picked Hamilton 48th overall.
