Does anyone know the most popular question asked by Kelowna Rockets' fans?

"Why is the team name the Rockets, but you have a Raccoon for a Mascot and a Monster on your jersey?"

Well friends, the team originated in Tacoma Washington where in the 1950's there was a hockey team named the Rockets. We wanted to keep the hockey tradition in Tacoma alive so many years later (1991) we adopted the name; Rockets.

When we relocated to Kelowna, we wanted to make our hockey club "Kelowna's" team therefore adopted the most recognizable symbol in the Okanagan, the Ogo Pogo, however, we had to give him a little more spirit and grit - so Ogie is more monster like.

As for me, Rocky Raccoon, when the Rockets were researching mascots - it is proven that animals by far are the most accepted by my favourite fans, kids. It was thought that my big furry self would be loveable and easy for kids to approach rather than a sea monster or Rocket. I'm glad I'm me ;)

I've made appearances at the Harvest Golf Club Sunday Brunch every year all Rockets' home games and have been featured in Sports Illustrated!
