Entertaining win sends the fans home happy as the Rockets head out for five straight road games

Feb. 18, 2012 - Kelowna, BC

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday night in Kelowna, coming from behind to snap a six game losing skid.

Damon Severson scored the winning goal in the shootout while goalie Adam Brown stopped six of seven Red Deer shooters to give Kelowna the win. Shane McColgan also scored in the shootout.

"It's been a long time coming. I think the guys did a good job. We were down two and came back," said Rockets assistant coach Ryan Cuthbert on the AM 1150 post game show. "We know we are a good team if we play a certain way. Tonight we were disciplined and we worked hard."

After Friday's loss to Calgary, the Rockets bounced back with a solid effort on home ice, outshooting the Rebels 42-31 and controlling much of the play.

Despite that, Kelowna trailed 2-0 after the first period but took the game over in the second. Brett Bulmer cut the lead to 2-1 before Kelowna scored twice in the third period to take a 3-2 lead on goals by Damon Severson and Bulmer, with his second.

Red Deer however tied the game with 32 seconds to play, on a deflected shot from Matt Dumba that sent the game to overtime.
